I've been even worse than Jaeger at writing here. As a matter of fact, my journal writing has dropped to nothing since I've gotten home. (Okay, so my whole track record of online posting isn't even in the same league with the volumous tomes of jaegerfesting, but I've got to give him a hard time regardless in an effort to spur him on to greater literary masterpieces (also known as content)).

Yesterday my 25 dollar hardware router arrived (d-link, di-604), and I preceded to set up my super-easy and long overdue LAN. I'm happy to be able to connect my computers to the internet once again--something I'm sure most of my readers can relate to. Today, I printed one of the six volumes from the most excellent Lessons In Electric Circuits, a copylefted electronics textbook series which appears far superior to anything else I've looked at in the field (not that I've reviewed so many alternatives mind you).

I'm also waiting expectantly for another item that is supposed to arrive tomorrow via UPS: a multimeter/oscilloscope. For those familiar with the Walla Walla electronics lab, it is sort of like the fancy fluke graphing multimeters found there. This one, the TPI 440, is a bit more affordable though. It is a 1 MHz scope plus true rms meter. I also ordered a current clamp that will measure up to 400A AC or DC. Now I'll be able to look at current waveforms. :-) I'm hoping to be a little more prepared for the role of resident engineer who "can solve all of our electrical and other technical problems" which I will be assuming (by virtue of my presence) upon returning to the Davis Indian Industrial College. Sometimes it's not so cool to know way more about technical stuff than anyone else for a couple hundred miles.

In my queue of things to get done this summer, I have a project (or more if I'm really ambitious) for the solar electrical systems at aforementioned school. That should be fun, but I'm really needing an oscilloscope at this point (a tool which I am regrettably without). The meter/scope is a solution to this problem that will also be small enough to take with me in August.

Hello, hello, and welcome back every one. Oh, I guess it was me that hasn't been here in awhile. I've been feeling pretty well less that great for the last few days, and then Tuesday my symptoms became pronounced enough to unmistakable be malaria. Oh fun. Knowing how un-fun it can be, I opted to go to a doctor right away. This procedure involves jumping through various hoops until the powers that be (as far as prescription drugs are concerned) are convinced that I really do have malaria, etc.

Well, I surrended maybe an ounce of blood and by evening I got a call from the second doctor who was supposed to know something about malaria (I've since become convinced that he does not). I wanted me to rush right out to a pharmacy and pick up some medicine. I really am glad for his concern though. Actually, today I'm feeling remarkable well. I don't have a lot of energy, but that's par for the course.

I guess I could produce some sort of travel-log for your vulturing convenience/agrivation, but I'm not feeling up to it now. And really, since I've been home I haven't really felt much like writing. I produced a good number of journal pages while gone, but I guess I haven't written a thing up till now.

Good morning all. I'm off to South America for a stint as a student missionary (though I've graduated, this is distinguished from being a full time one.) I don't expect to have much opportunity to browse the web, etc, so I'll not be posting here for a while. I'll have e'mail though, so feel free to drop me a note if you're so inclined. Bye.
